Eagle Grove High School juniors and seniors were excited when they found out they would indeed be able to have a Prom this year. Recently, they received some more good news when Principal Heidi Vasquez announced they would also be able to have a Grand March, despite previous beliefs.
In order to allow parents, family, friends, and community members to be able to see these handsome men and beautiful ladies, the school district has decided to hold the event outside. Grand March will be held outside the front doors of Eagle Grove High School and begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 1. As in years past (before it was held in the Robert Blue Middle School auditorium), Prom attendees will arrive in their vehicles of choice by the South door. Each attendee will provide their own driver who will drop them off for their introduction and walk up the steps to the front entrance of the high school while the driver goes and parks their car in the nearby lot. Prom-goers will also stop at the top of the stairs for photo opportunities before proceeding in the high school.
Spectators are asked to spread out in the grass and sidewalks in front of the school as well as across the street to maintain social distancing protocols. No spectators will be allowed inside the school building.
In the event it should be raining, there will be no Grand March as specified by Public Health.
