The largest high school track meet in the nation took place last week at Drake Stadium, and EGHS was represented in five total events between the two teams.
Ayden Feske may be just a freshman, but she didn’t let the large crowd and venue bother her as she went out to compete in the 100 dash prelims on Thursday. She broke the finish line in 13.24 and took 15th overall, ending her attempt in that event as she didn’t qualify for the finals. Rest assured this girl will be back for more over the next three years.
Also on Thursday were junior Blake Morgan’s two events. He finished 21st in 23.80 in the 200 prelims, which was not good enough to reach the finals. The 400 dash that day was the finals, with Morgan taking 20th in 53.66.
The 4×1 prelims were contested on Friday, with the relay of Conaway, O. Anderson, Feske and Friedl taking 13th in 51.86 for their final run of the season. Lea Friedl then ran her 800 on Saturday, finishing 22nd in 2:30.80 in the final state meet of her high school career.
