Following a public hearing, which had no comments offered either oral or written, the Eagle Grove City Council approved a voluntary annexation application from Daybreak Foods along with the first reading amending the zoning classification to I-1 (Industrial) for their recently acquired property along Highway 17 on the north side of the city.
The Council also vacated and conveyed two right-of-way portions of streets on their property that are no longer in use. Seventh Street Northwest and 11th Street Northwest will now legally belong to them. They approved the list of FY21-22 salaries and wages for city employees, and a grant application for $100,000 from the Iowa Department of Agriculture & Land Stewardship. This is for the downtown project, and the completion date was amended from June 30 to now be December 31 of this year.
Several change orders with Peterson Construction concerning the downtown revitalization project were approved. A total deduction for each of the five buildings in the project of $181,800 range from $16,000 on up to $71,500. A total deduction of $2,895 for buildings at 110 South Lucas and 208 West Broadway, deductions totaling $4,130 for 208 West Broadway and an additional $77,900 for approval contingent upom IEDA.
In other action the Council:
-spproved an amendment to the water quality initiative cost-share grant contract;
-Authorized a TIF rebate to Gold Eagle Co-op, and a grant contribution to the Eagle Grove Chamber of Commerce, both per their respective development agreements;
-approved the list of salaries and wages for City employees for FY21-22;
-set a public hearing for July 6 to consider an amendment to the code of ordinances regarding fences;
approved pay application #2 for $303,243.80 to Wicks Construction of Decorah for the streetscape project;
-gave the oath of office to new police officer Water Pacheco;
-approved building permits for Eagle Grove Community School District (sheds), Torkelson Properties (house) and Monica Lindstrom (fence);
approved beer/liquor/wine licenses for Kum & Go and Fareway (Class E) and a new and temporary Class B beer permit to the Wright County District Junior Fair;
-approved cigarette permits for Ampride, Casey’s General Store, Dollar General, Fareway and Kum & Go.
