The streetscape construction project on Broadway Street in Eagle Grove has been underway for several weeks now. While progress is moving along nicely, Eagle Grove City Administrator Bryce Davis has announced there will be some modifications coming to the work already completed on the corner of Broadway and Commercial.
He stated that the corners edges will be made smaller to allow a larger turning radius.
“At their current location, they are impacting vehicle traffic,” stated Davis. “Modifications are needed to ensure vehicle and pedestrian safety.”
Modifications to the eastern portion of the intersection (Ben Franklin side) will be made immediately, according to Davis. The western side (El Jalapeno/Broadway Vision) will be made based on contractor availability, but still in the course of the streetscape project timeline.
Davis also noted that when the project is complete, parking will look just a little different. Before, cars parked at approximately a 45 degree angle. New parking will have spaces at a 60 degree angle – so more of a “straight-in” style. They are also identifying ADA (handicap) parking on each of the three blocks affected by the construction.
People have also been wondering why there are still portions of rock on the 300 block of Broadway (the first street that had construction work done to it). Pavers will be placed in those spots, but they are on backorder. As of press time, they were scheduled to be shipped on June 26. Davis estimates that if that date does not change, workers will begin to place the pavers in early July.
