At their meeting this past Monday, the Eagle Grove Board of Education directors were presented with changes to graduation requirements. “We are adjusting them to meet the standards of current law,” stated superintendent Jess Toliver. “This will include a basic diploma (currently called alternative diploma) with 30 credits required, an honors diploma (currently regular diploma) with 52 credits required and a high honors diploma which includes the most rigorous content with upper level math and science with 58 credits required.” The Board approved the changes as presented.
The Board approved several purchases over $25,000, and those included: Tuckpointing at the high school ($64,242), Furniture for the Emerson building ($133,594), Playground equipment for the elementary ($168,413) and Bells/Intercom and speakers for both the high school and Emerson building ($135,404). They also approved the yearly transfer of funds from General to Student Activity of $9,400 for purchase of football helmets and safety equipment.
In other action the Board:
-accepted resignations from McKristie Willard (assistant girls track), Abby Egli and Dallas Hammitt (teacher associates) and Ashley Flatebo and Lori Olson (elementary teachers);
-approved contracts for Kacie Hesse, McKristie Willard and Meghan Erdman (TLC teacher leaders), Elizabeth Schwake (MS band teacher BA Step 4)), Brandi Osborn (fulltime MS art teacher BA Step 1), Kaleigh Greufe (elementary special ed teacher BA Step 0) and Radney Roosa (high school activities director);
-open enrollment requests for two students in from Humboldt and two students out to Webster City;
-approved the bread and milk bids for the 21-22 school year;
-set a special meeting to take care of any end of financial year business;
-approved the early graduation request from Logan Carr.
