Council holds first vote on fencing in private pools

 

At the Tuesday, July 6 Council meeting, the first reading of an ordinance amendment pertaining to use of fences around private swimming pools was approved. It would repeal a section and replace it with the following: “All swimming pools located within the zoning jurisdiction of the City which have a filtration system, circulation system or require the use of chemicals shall be surrounded by a fence at least four feet in height and equipped with a self-locking gate. A self-locking gate can be exempt from this requirement if the fence is a perimeter fence for the property and does not have a gate. The fence shall be designed to prevent entry by small children and animals.” It will be effective upon final passage, approval and publication.

 

They approved the second reading, then waived the third, to adopt an ordinance amendment to the zoning classification of the parcel annexed in for the Daybreak Foods building project. It rezones the property from R-1 (Residential) to I-1 (Industrial).

 

In other action the Council:

-approved pay application #3 for $82,773.74 to Wicks Construction for the CDBG Streetscape and Storm Water Inprovement Project. They also approved change order #2 for 57,085 to the same company;

-approved pay application #1 for $103,366.65 to Yohn Company for the 2021 Street Improvement project, and a change order for $10,000 to the same company;

-approved building permits for Jones (fence), Wesselink (fence), Willard (parking area), Walters (fence), Robinson (sump pump & parking area), Zoetis (main office addition), Williams (shed), Eagle Trenching (fence), Lawson (fence) and Gold Eagle Co-op (signs).
