The Eagle softball team finished at 8-25 overall with a 5-11 record in the Top of Iowa-West Division. North Union won with a 15-1 record, and went on to represent the conference at state. Bishop Garrigan and Lake Mills tied for second at 11-5. Four players made the all-conference lists in balloting of the coaches. Lea Friedl is a First Team choice, Addy Jeske and Tarissa Middleton got the nod to the Second Team and Braxton Steil made the Honorable Mention list.
The team batting average was .284, with an on-base percentage of .404 and a slugging percentage of .329. Friedl had 36 hits in 79 at-bats for an average of .456. Middleton had 36 hits in 85 at-bats for an average of .424. Addy Jeske had 41 hits in 104 at-bats for an average of .394. Braxton Steil had 20 hits in 75 at-bats for an average of .267. Brooklyn Osborn had 20 hits in 78 at-bats for an average of .256.
Sabrina Flumerfelt had 23 hits in 96 at-bats for an average of .249. Olivia Conaway had 12 hits in 63 at-bats for an average of .226. Nadia Kaiser had 11 hits in 55 at-bats for an average of .200. Chloe Steil had two hits in 13 at-bats for an average od .164. Calli Steil had one hit in seven at-bats for an average of .143. Other hits were contributed by Suzi Kaiser (five), Alexa Juske and Madi Axtell (three each), Celeste Figueroa (two) and Maddison Kaiser (one).
Middleton had six doubles, Flumerfelt five and Osborn three, while Friedl, Flumerfelt and Addy Jeske had one triple each. Flumerfelt smashed a ball over the fence for the only homerun of the year.
Flumerfelt led in RBI with 25, followed by Osborn at 21 and Middleton at 16. Friedl drew 35 walks for the year, followed by Braxton Steil at 21 and Middleton at 11. Braxton was hit by a pitch 10 times, Nadia Kaiser reached on an error five times and Friedl, Middleton and Flumerfelt four times each.
Friedl made 24 steals in 26 attempts, with Middleton at 16 out of 21 and Addy Jeske 13 out of 14. Among players that played in at least 32 games, Chloe had the most putouts at 111 and Braxton the most catches at 160. Ranked by fielding percentage, regardless of games played, the order would be: Maddison K. 1.000, Huse 1.000, Alexa J. .984, Braxton S. .919, Friedl .912, Figueroa .909, Chloe S. .898, Osborn .891, Nadia K. .857, Middleton .841, Addy J. .827, Flumerfelt .750, Suzi K. .694, Conaway .588 and Axtell .250.
Osborn won six games in the circle, with 103 1/3 total innings and 75 earned runs on 168 hits. She walked 41, hit 16 batters and made 62 K’s for a final ERA of 6.08.
Braxton Steil won two games, with 45 innings and 60 earned runs on 100 hits. She walked 26, hit six batters and made 30 K’s for a final ERA of 9.33. Alexa Jeske pitched 26 innings and allowed 34 earned on 44 hits. She walked 27, hit eight batters and had 12 K’s for a final ERA of 9.15. Tarissa Middleton pitched 9 1/3 innings and allowed 14 earned on 14 hits. She walked 12, hit two by pitch and had six K’s for a final ERA of 10.50.
In conference games only, Friedl tied for eighth in batting average and Middleton was 17th. For the season, Friedl set a school record in walks and was fifth in runs scored. Flumerfelt tied for 16th in RBI, with Braxton tied for fourth in walks and fourth in hit-by-pitch. Nadia was sixth in hit-by-pitch and Addy tied for 14th in hits. In Lady Eagle career records, Friedl ends up fourth in walks (51) and seventh in batting average (.376).
