City looks to future projects

As the street repairs and renovations move into the final stretch, and the Wellness Center addition gets closer to groundbreaking, Eagle Grove City Administrator Bryce Davis looks to future improvements.

There will be an upcoming meeting at Memorial Hall in the near future to go over plans for renovation of The Flowing Well.

“I may develop some concepts (for that meeting) to gauge people’s opinion on the project,” said Davis. “It’s a little bit of an eye-soar and the well doesn’t work that well.  I also don’t like boarding it up in the winter.”

The City is also looking at 2022 street projects.  There are currently two streets in mind that the Council had directed Davis to do “due diligence on.”  They include E Broadway from the railroad tracks to Kirkwood.  The other street is Parkview.  This work would start early spring of 2022.

“We’re working through some things that we need to do from an infrastructure assessment standpoint. So once we get that done then we will have a good idea of what the project entails,” said Davis.

A project on the north end of town is also getting started.  Any time you do a water/sewer project you have to go through a preliminary engineering report and then submit an Intended Use Plan with the DNR to move towards funding and construction of the project.

Central Iowa Televising will come in and televise the entire north end of town including the railroad tracks on Hwy 17 and north of AGP all the way to where Daybreak is building (city limits).  They will be looking at replacing the lift station, which is 10 years overdue, replacing and repairing mains, replacing manholes, and extending water mains, hydrants and valves.

“Our goal is to fix the upstream…so there is less rainwater coming from the north in our sanitary sewer collection system,” said Davis.

The City will be going after CBDG grant funding for this project like they did for the northeast side of town project.  The goal is to start this work by the fall of 2022.
