The Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church has stepped up in a time of need, thanks to the help of parishioners and community members alike.
After devastating floods and tornadoes ripped through the east and parts of the United States recently, they knew they had to help in any way they could. So they sent out a call for donations of items to fill as many Disaster Response Buckets as possible. The generosity came pouring in as they received cleaning supplies, school supplies, Bibles, health care items, and even quilts and blankets.
In total, 51 buckets were filled by Saturday, Sept. 11, in time to load the truck and send it towards its destination of Louisiana.
“The NALC always does disaster relief…and when we found out supplies were needed, we got to work,” said Church Secretary Linda Spangler.
Pastor Jason Cooper added that they will continue to collect disaster relief items so more can be sent if needed, or, so that they may be stored when the next disaster strikes so they can be sent out right away. He also reminds the community that anyone can drop off donations. The best time would be at 9 a.m. on Sundays, or you can call the church office to schedule a time.
Items needed include: Bleach, trash bags, paper towels, comet, Pine Sol, scrub brushes, gloves, soap, towels, wash cloths, shampoo/conditioner, toothbrushes, floss, toothpaste, comb, deodorant, clippers, backpacks, notebooks, rulers, blunt scissors, erasers, pencils/pens, crayons, calculators, masks, baby diapers, mops, brooms, dustpans, quilts and blanks, Bibles, and more.
