Steil retires after 46 years with the City

Carl Steil was the guest of honor at a retirement party held Wednesday, Sept. 8.  Current and past employees, family and friends gathered at the water plant to celebrate his 46 years with the City of Eagle Grove as the Street Superintendent.

“He cannot be replaced,” said City Administrator Bryce Davis of Steil’s time and dedication to his job.

Steil was humbled by the turnout and grateful to have worked with so many people who he now calls friends.

“It’s been an honor working for the people of Eagle Grove,” he said.

While he will miss his interaction with the community and his daily routine, Steil is most definitely looking forward to retirement and has made plans already.

“I’m going to have fun in retirement,” he said with a big smile and a little chuckle.

His wife, Kim, joked that she has already made a few plans for him as well on the “Honey Do List,” as did his daughter, Jen, who added she would keep him busy making signs for the drill team…and anything else she can think of.

Thank you for your years of service, Carl, and making sure Eagle Grove’s water was always top-notch.
