On Tuesday, November 2 the General Election will have county, city and school board races on the ballot. County Auditor Betty Ellis has released the names that voters will choose from when they mark their ballots.
Three candidates have filed for five seats for Eagle Grove. Running for reelection are mayor Sandra McGrath and incumbent council member Matt Jergens. Incumbents Sonya Middleton and Josh Schild did not file papers, and the only name on the ballot for one of those seats is former council member Wally Lorenzen. That means that one seat must be filled by a write-in vote.
Frank Beminio is running for another term as Belmond mayor. Council candidates for four seats include Katie Schlichting, Jon Swenson and Kyle Tulp. As in Eagle Grove, a write-in will fill a seat there. Clarion incumbent mayor Duane Asbe is stepping down, so the new mayor will beeither Rodney Heiden or Shayne Edward Hennigar. A lively council seat race will elect three from a field that includes Brandon Flurer, Dave Flurer, Larry Harrah, Dan Hennigar, Mark Hinton and Nick MaOllough.
Larry Klatt will try to win reelection as Dows mayor. Running for three council seats are Richard Mark Echelberger, Loren Lienemann, Christina Peterson and Craig Russell. Gabe Fiscus runs for the mayor in Goldfield, with three people running for three council seats. They are Marcy Duncalf, Anthony Meinke and Marilyn Jill Sorenson.
Lennea Groom will try for reelection as Rowan mayor, with Dale Hollman, Marcos Hurtado and Virgil Park the candidates for three council spots. Bruce Rholl will being seeking votes to return to the mayors seat in Woolstock, with a crowded field on six candidates looking to win three council seats. Those are Bart Green, Troy Alan Kastler, Tyler Kunz, Ginevra Letts, Scott Myers and Lucinda J. Stone. Galt will have Steve Chambers on the ballot for mayor and Zeke Rosales for a council seat. Four other seats will be filled by write-in vote.
A new school board president will be chosen this year in Eagle Grove as longtime director Jon Rowen is retiring from the board. Angie Capsel will run for his seat, with Dr. Aaron Parrott looking to be returned to the board after being chosen by appointment. Belmond-Klemme will have Rick McDaniel looking to return to his seat. Two other seats will have voters choose between Gary L. Berkland, Heather Ridgway and Marc Schlichting. A public measure will also be placed before voters there. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows voters will be asked to return incumbents Kelly Kirstein, Beth Severson and Megan Ring to their seats,
