Eagle Grove students participate in “See You at the Pole”

Nearly two dozen students, staff, and community members gathered around the Eagle Grove High School flagpole early Wednesday morning, Sept. 22, to participate in “See You at the Pole.”  It is a day that stems back from a 1990 gathering of students in Burleson, Texas who “felt compelled” to pray for their school, their friends, and leaders.  A few months later, it was reported that 45,000 teenagers met at school flagpoles in four different states to do the same.  A year later, an estimated one million students gathered at school flagpoles across the country.

This year’s Eagle Grove event was held at 7:30 a.m. and was facilitated by Grace E Free Church Youth Leader Zach Dodge and volunteer Jen Schild.  Individuals were invited to share their prayers and intentions out loud with the group if they felt comfortable in doing so.  Those who did, prayed for their classmates, their families, friends, and help in coping with the many daily stressors that exist amongst people today.  Others simply listened, keeping their thoughts and prayers to themselves.

Students of all ages attended the free-will participation event.  Dodge closed the approximate 20 minute gathering with a prayer for blessings on the entire school district, students, and staff, as well as the entire community of Eagle Grove.
