Marching to victory

The Eagle Grove High School band, under the direction of Justin Schwake, have been working very hard this season to perfect their craft.  Not only do they practice for concert performances and adding spirit at home football games, but they have also been hitting the streets in the early morning hours, and during their lunch break, to perfect their marching skills.

This small but mighty group of kids has proven that individuals working together as one cohesive unit, be they big or small, can accomplish great things.  On Saturday, Sept. 18 they attended the Waseca Marching Classic where they received 2nd Place for their performance.  Dedication and continued practice made their efforts pay off when they marched down the streets in the Algona Band Day held a few weeks later on Saturday, Oct. 2.  A large crowd of Eagle Grove supporters were there to cheer them on where they and the Golden Starts Drill Team twirling flags earned them top honors, taking home the 1st Place trophy in their division.

Great job marching Eagles.  You’ve represented our community well.
