Hoping to clinch a crucial win, the Eagle Grove Eagles were unsuccessful versus Forest City Indians as they currently go 0-2 for the season. The first half compared to the second played out completely differently as the Eagles managed to hold off the Indians by just one point in the first quarter, and then two in the second. The Eagles’ second half is where the chance of winning slipped away from their fingertips. Scoring only six in both the third and fourth quarter, the Eagles let up a total of 38 points in both the third and fourth quarter combined. If the second half was anything similar to the first, the Eagles could have defeated their Top of Iowa conference rivals after 7 straight years of losses to them.
Despite the loss on Tuesday night, SO Drake Canavan led the charts for most points for both teams, as he contributed 17 points for the Eagles and five rebounds. Followed by Canavan was JR Jordan Morris who contributed 14 points along with a solid six assists. Though only two points were scored by JR Tate Richardson, the junior showed up with a steal, two assists, and two rebounds.
Tuesday night’s game was a defeat but not a failure for the Eagles. With a young, growing team, the Eagles are gaining experience with the potential to improve as time goes on. Eager to earn their first win of the season, the Eagles will host West Hancock on Friday, December 3, at 7:30 PM.
