Eagle boys denied a win after 63-36 loss to West Hancock

Who would’ve thought the Eagles vs the Eagles would’ve ended in an ironic score of 63-36?

The Eagle Grove Eagles hosted the West Hancock Eagles on Friday night, urging for a victory after two straight losses from the CGD Cowboys and Forest City Indians. Losing their second conference matchup, the Eagles currently sit at the bottom of the Top of Iowa West Conference with a current 0-3 record. Of course, the understanding is clear, as the Eagles teams, both boys and girls basketball, are young. Whether the matches result in losses, or wins, every match can be viewed positively as each player can take away something from each game to help them for the next game.

Piling up the most points for the Eagles, yet again, was SO Drake Canavan with 11 points scored, and four rebounds. Followed behind Canavan was JR Jordan Morris with 8 points, 9 rebounds, and four assists. The junior contributed to both the defense and offense for the Eagles, though they struggled to grab a win from Friday night’s matchup. SR Jensen Cooper contributed three points for the Eagles, along with five rebounds, and an assist. With no points scored, but adding a major impact on the game, JR Tate Richardson rebounded six times for the Eagles with two assists, and two steals.

A number of impressive stats can raise an eyebrow, of course, however in the end it’s the score that determines the result. Only scoring under 40 points per game this season, and letting up at least 60, the Eagles will seek for changes in the upcoming games to get back on track.

Hoping to snatch their first win of the season, the Eagles will face the current 0-2 Belmond-Klemme Broncos at Belmond on Tuesday, December 7, at 7:45 PM.
