Eagle girls bested by Broncos 48-18

The learning curve continues, but the Broncos had no time for the Eagles on Tuesday night.

The Eagle Grove Eagles were hosted by the Belmond-Klemme Broncos on Tuesday night with tip-off starting at 6:15 PM. Down 0-3, the Eagle girls were searching for a win against the Broncos, hoping for their first win before facing fellow conference team Bishop-Garrigan.

The game kicked off with a decent start for the Eagles, as they managed to apply six points to the score. Though they scored seven, 13 points were scored by the Broncos. The first quarter ended in a six point lead for the Broncos, but with plenty of opportunity and time for the Eagles to achieve a comeback. However, the Eagles struggled to secure more points while the Broncos stacked a whopping 20 points in the second quarter, while only letting up four. At half-time the Eagles were down 33-11, in similar situations they’ve been in for the past three games of the season. When the second half arrived, the Eagles had the chance to comeback while the Broncos failed to put up as many points in the second quarter alone. However, the Eagles struggled to level the game, and instead went down 45-14 in the third. The final quarter seemed careless for the Broncos, as they only scored four points, finishing off the Eagles 49-18.

As the game came to a close, the Eagles drove back home with another loss and the absence of a win this season. Though all hope is not lost. With a similar young team as the Eagle boys, who defeated the Broncos on Tuesday night 41-28, the Eagle girls have the same potential for winning this season, especially with the increase of experience learned from each match.

Hoping to capture their first win rather than let up a fifth loss, the Eagle girls are set to host Bishop-Garrigan on Friday, December 10, at 7:45 PM.
