The 5th – 8th grade band performed a selection of seasonal orchestral favorites on Thursday the 9th, to a packed auditorium at the Robert Blue Middle School. The performance was conducted by band teacher Elizabeth Schwake.
The concert was a triumph before the first note was played, coming as it did in the midst of the still ongoing pandemic. Which in the period before vaccinations were available, prevented them from performing as much as they would have liked.
“They’ve been working really hard to be able to perform tonight. After a couple of years, I guess, of inconsistent performing because of Covid. And they’ve been very excited,” Schwake said.
That the kids were excited seemed an understatement. The gathered families seemed to be pretty excited too! And the show seemed to go off without a hitch.
