Eagle girls bested by North Union

14-0. That’s the historical matchups record between the Eagle girls and North Union Warriors. Since 2014, the North Union Warriors have beaten the Eagles in every competitive matchup. Tuesday night became the 14th loss for the Eagles, as they lost 61-16 to the Warriors.

Despite Tuesday night’s historical matchup loss, the Eagles fought hard during their clash with the Warriors. The Eagles were bested by the Warriors as they scored four points in the first quarter. 10 points above, the Warriors ended the first quarter with 14 points. The second quarter saw the same result from the Eagles with an even better result from the Warriors, who scored 23 points. As halftime arrived, the Eagles were down 37-8.

The Eagle girls emerged out of the first quarter and into the second with the yearning for points. Though the girls fought for an increasing number of points in the third quarter, the Warriors denied them. Scoring only two points in the third, the Eagles went into the fourth quarter with 10 points while the Warriors blasted their way to the fourth with 54. The Eagles finished the match adding six points in the fourth while the Warriors added seven. The matchup ended in a crushing loss for the Eagles, as they were bested by North Union 61-16.

Though the Eagles were bested by the Warriors, they have much to look forward to in their upcoming games where they continue to gain experience and learn about the game. Their next matchup is set for 6:30 PM on Friday, Jan. 7, where they will host the North Iowa Bison.
