Tragic accident claims lives of two area teens

Two teenagers from nearby towns were killed tragically in a single vehicle accident which the Iowa State Patrol reported investigating early Saturday morning. According to the State Patrol’s report filed by Patrolman Missman, the accident happened at 230th Street and Nevada Avenue, just southeast of Dakota City.

Reportedly, 17 year old Gavin Maines of Woolstock was driving westbound in a 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck on 230th Street when he lost control on the right-hand curve in the road. The truck went into the ditch and rolled over several times.

Both Maines and his passenger, 18 year old Madison Fraker of Algona were ejected from the truck. Neither were wearing seat belts, according to State Patrol reports. The Humboldt County Medical Examiner pronounced both dead at the scene.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department assisted the State Patrol in investigating the crash scene.

Visitation for Maines will be Thursday, March 31st from 5:00 PM to 5:45 PM at 1200 Bluff St. in Webster City. His funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM at the same location.

A funeral Mass for Fraker will be held Saturday, April 2nd at 10 AM at Divine Mercy Parish St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Algona. Madison’s family will meet friends at public visitation starting at 4 PM and ending at 7 PM Friday, April 1st at the same location. There will not be a public visitation Saturday morning before the Mass.
