“Bittersweet” farewell to Seniors at Spring Concert

Students of the high school band, mixed choir, and women’s choir, led by teachers Mr. Schwake and Mrs. Muzze, put on their Spring Concert on Thursday, once again bringing live music back to a happy crowd in the post COVID-19 lockdown phase.

“The students are very proud of their performance and have worked very hard to give a good performance,” said High School Band Director Justin Schwake. “The work is not done though,” schwake added. “We will keep refining some of this music and perform it again at the State Large Group Festival in May.”

The performance marked the last time some Seniors will perform on stage as students in Eagle Grove. “The Spring Concert is always so bittersweet,” the Eagle Grove Music Boosters wrote in a Facebook post. “We’re sad to see the seniors leave, but so excited for their brights futures too!” To show their appreciation for the hard work and musicianship of the graduating seniors, the Music Boosters gave each departing student a rose, in a touching ceremony where each senior took a final bow, lined up across the front of the stage.

In addition to performances by the band and choirs, soloists and duets performed as well. The audience was treated to a variety of performances by Eagle Grove’s talented young musicians. Each performance earning strong applause.
