In this era of simple social media posts, so much of the record of our lives is fleeting. Like fools gold, they shine brightly in a flurry of likes and comments, but are really just a flash in the pan. Celebrated for a moment, but then scrolled or swiped away from and forgotten forever.
But here at the Eagle Grove Eagle we are in our 136th year in print, and a copy of every issue is added to our physical archive. Everything we print is preserved for posterity, in hard bound books meant to withstand the test of time. And anyone can stop into our office and read our back issues in our reading and conference room (making an appointment is recommended).
Recently, we revived the long lost practice of publishing a simple mention of events that happened, combining those categories into our new Happenings column. Every single thing listed here goes into the history books, kept here in our office, for posterity. So we encourage you, our readers, to take advantage of this free service to record the events of your life in the literal history books.
Here are some recent happenings people asked us to share:
April 13: Chapter EJ, P.E.O. met Wednesday at the EG Country Club for a social. The group enjoyed an art activity led by Barb Jones.
April 21: The High School band, mixed choir, and women’s choir performed their Spring Concert.

April 25: Preschool and TK kids visited their future Kindergarten classrooms for Step Up Day.
