"What a night for a track meet," Girls Track Team Coach Andy Ettinger exclaimed in a Facebook post celebrating the outstanding performances of the Lady Eagles in only their second meet of the new season. And indeed, it was a perfect night for it. With a break in the cold that lasted one day, the Eagles ran in a comfortable 65 or so degrees on the recently rare sunny afternoon.
Most notable was Ayden Feske's 1st place, record breaking run in the 100 meter dash that qualified her for the Drake Relays this Friday (see article in this issue for details).
But in addition to Feske's achievement, there were several other shining performances by the Eagle girls in the meet. Including two more first place scores. Addy Jeske took 1st place in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet 3 inches. Justine Olson took 1st place in the shot put.
Reese Ettinger took 3rd place in the Discus with a throw of 79 feet 8 inches. And Olivia Anderson was the second Eagle to place in the 100 meter, taking 4th place.
As a team, the Eagles took 2nd place in the 4×100, 3rd place in the Distance Medley, and 4th place in borh the Sprint Medly, and the 4×200, where they also cut another second off their total time.
"I am beyond proud of all these ladies," Coach Ettinger said, "they came to compete and we took home some hardware!"
