Tornado forming just outside Eagle Grove caught on camera

Even as the Grand March for the Eagle Grove Prom was gearing up, Mother Nature was whipping up a serious storm that very nearly dropped a tornado just a few miles east of town. In a matter of moments the cloud threatened to drop a funnel, which began to form, but then dissipated. It happened right in front of me, after I spotted the dangerous storm forming on my way to photograph the Grand March.

After snapping these quick shots of the forming tornado, I was forced to flee the storm. I headed east, then south towards the tail end of the storm, to avoid the most severe and dangerous part of it. Just as I reached the point where I could double back, the storm caught up with me, and I drove back west and then north into Eagle Grove through heavy rain. As I pulled into town, the sky was just clearing over the city. And I made it to the Grand March in time to catch almost every couple on the stage.
