The Top of Iowa West Conference Track Meet was held last Thursday, May 5th, at Waldorf University in Forest City. The Eagles teams competed with Belmond-Klemme, Bishop Garrigan, Forest City, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Lake Mills, North Iowa, North Union, and West Hancock.
Field events were up first, with two Eagles placing 2nd. Peyton Larsen took 2nd in the boys shot put with a throw of 43' 3.75". Addyson Jeske took 2nd in the long jump, marking 16' 1".
The Eagles also placed 4th twice. In the boys high jump Cayden Schultz took 4th place, clearing 6' even. In the girls' shot put Justine Olson nabbed 4th, tossing 33' 2.75".
There was also a 5th place earned by the Eagles and two 6th places. In boys discus Gabriel Binkerd took 5th, while Jake Jeske took 6th, with Binkerd throwing 113' 10", beating Jeske's 112' 10" by just one foot. Orlando Hernadez also placed 6th, marking a leap of 18' 9.75" in the long jump.
Ayden Feske was the Eagle's champ in the individual events, taking a 1st place win in the 100 meter dash in just 13.10. Blake Morgan also did well in individuals, placing 3rd in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.93.
In boys relays, the Eagles took 2nd in the 4×200 and in the sprint medley as well, with a 1:34.12 time in the 4×200 and a 1:39.54 time in the sprint medley. The Eagles also took 3rd in the 4×400, timing 3:37.50. In the shuttle hurdle relay the Eagles took 5th, marking 1:12.24.
In girls relays, the Eagles took 2nd in the sprint medley, with a finish of 2_01.89. They also took a 5th and a 6th, marking 5:15.42 for 5th in the distance medley, and timing 2:03.16 in the 4×200 for 6th.
Final scores for the boys had the Eagles at 6th place for the meet, with 47 points. For the girls final scores put them in 8th place with 33 points. Forest City was the team to beat in team titles, sweeping in both boys and girls titles.
