Supervisors hold short meeting

In a short meeting on Monday, Wright County Engineer Adam Clemons asked the Board of Supervisors to act on a few hiring matters. First, he asked them to rescind the new hire previously approved for patrol operator at the Dows maintenance facility after that person withdrew their application. They then approved another hire for that position pending pre-employment screenings.

Clemons also asked the board if the county could apply dust control themselves on gravel around the Dows/Williams road since the gravel road is being used more due to bridge work. The board approved. They also approved an updated Planning and Zoning ordinance that had been in the works for a number of years and approved the future land use map.

In drainage matters, they approved various joint drainage assessments with Hancock and Franklin County. They also okayed various spreads on drainage districts. A completion hearing for work done to drainage district #194 lateral #1 was tabled so they could check with a landowner regarding possible damages. In other action, the board approved four fireworks permits for 4G Pyrotechnics for shows in Clarion and Belmond. They acted on the dental plan for Wright County employees. There will be about a 24% increase in the plan this year.
