Here comes Summerfest!

Summerfest time is here again, and it’s time to gather together your family and friends for a very good time, right here in Eagle Grove. There are so many things to do, boredom is impossible!

Not only will Friday and Saturday be full of fun activities all day and night, but not one but TWO of the most popular party bands in Iowa are coming to play Eagle Grove on Saturday night.

We have a packed schedule during the day featuring volunteers from various community groups and business running games, crafts and water activities. There’s a free stage loaded with local talent, and there are fundraising activities supporting multiple worthy local causes that help out our residents year round.

Most summerfest activities are at the James R. Johnson stage area of the Wright County Fairgrounds, making it easy to find every kind of family fun!

“This is my last Summerfest as Chamber Director and I’m super thrilled with it because it showcases our local and Iowa based talent, and continues our tradition of a full, fun schedule with something for everyone, made possible by community partnerships by our neighbors’ generosity of time and sponsorships,” said outgoing Chamber of Commerce Director Sarah Middleton.

The movie Finding Nemo will be shown in the park Friday night with snacks from the Eagle Grove Lions Club. And the Hula Hoop contest sponsored by Gramma’s Attic.

In athletic activities, enjoy the Lazy J Rescue Ranch “Fore Animals” Golf Outing at the Eagle Grove Golf Course on Saturday morning. Then there’s the bag contest at the Smoke Shop, and the home run derby. See schedule for details.

And it’s not just family fun, there’s a fantastic night of nightlife lined up for Saturday, with the Pork Tornadoes led by frontman Mason Greaves of reality TV fame, whose songs have millions of hits on Youtube, taking the James R. Johsnon stage following Scott Kirkhart, with the music starting at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $20 at the gate, 18+ to attend, 21 or older to purchase alcohol. And then the afterparty at Rails brings Farm Rock to the rails stage in the beer garden for a fun outdoor show.

So whatever you had planned, if it wasn’t to be in Eagle Grove for summerfest, scrap it! And we’ll see you out on the town this weekend.
