On Monday the 13th The Eagles Hosted the Indians for a regular season evening match at Greenwood Park.
The game was a real swisher with 22 total strikeouts to only 8 hits and just 4 total runs, as Indians sophomore pitcher Tommy Miller and Eagles pitchers, junior Jordan Morris and senior Cayden Schults kept putting the ball past the hitters on 44 total at bats. Fully half of the total at bats were strikeouts. While only 1 in 11 at bats ended in a run. And none of those were home runs. Which left batters on both teams swatting the empty air most of the time – a testament to the skill of the pitchers.
Things started out looking good for Eagle Grove in the 1st when senior Blake Morgan got the Eagles on the scoreboard early with the first run of the game. But that was the only run Forest City pitcher Tommy Miller was going to allow, as he dueled Schultz and Morris to keep the Eagles off the scoreboard from then on.
For their part, Morris and Schultz weren’t letting many Indians across the plate, either. But the Indians did plate runs in the 2nd, 3rd, and 7th innings, to win the match 3 to 1.
