Eagles Softball tops Broncos by 1 in back and forth battle

In a matchup with a mind boggling 63 total At Bats, almost evenly split between the teams, the Eagles hosted the Belmond-Klemme Broncos at Greenwood Park for a Friday evening regular season game.

Things didn’t start out looking so good for the Eagles, who let the Broncos on the board once in the 1st inning without getting on the board themselves. And then both teams went scoreless in the 2nd. But then came the third inning and the Eagles plated twice while holding BK at bay. They must have liked how that felt because in the next inning, the Eagles did the same thing all over again.

The fifth came and went without a change in the 4 to 1 score, and then in the 6th both teams turned up the heat. The Broncos came into the bottom of the 7th with an 8-4 lead. But the Eagles battled back, scoring 4 times to tie the game up and take it into extra innings. Eagles player of the game Braxton Steil came in to pitch the last 3 innings, giving up just one hit and one run. Then she scored the winning run with 2 outs, putting the game in the books at 9 to 8, Eagles.
