Eagles Softball Triumphs in well played win over Indians

On Monday the 13th Eagle Grove’s Softball team hosted Forest City for a night time game in the regular season at Greenwood Park.

The first inning was scoreless as the two teams held each other at bay. The teams stayed neck and neck into the third with both teams plating a run in the second. Then the Eagles took the lead, plating 3 runs to the Indians’ 1 in the third.

For the next four innings the two teams kept pace with each other, with both teams scoring 2 runs each in the 5th and going scoreless the other 4.

The game might have seemed an even contest much of the time, but the discipline behind the Eagles win was apparent in the numbers. With 24 at bats to Forest City’s 32, and 7 hits to Forest City’s 11, 11 Strikeouts to the Indians’ 9, only 9 total bases to the Indians 13, but 4 walks to the Indians 2, and two Eagles struck by pitches compared to 1 Indian, the Eagles took 6 runs to Forest City’s 4. An equation that adds up to the Eagles playing a more efficient, more disciplined ball game, than their guests.
