CLIVE, IOWA – The Iowa Amputee Golf Association’s (IAGA) 31st annual golf tournament is scheduled for Sat., July 9 and Sun., July 10, at the Willow Creek Golf Course, 140 Army Post Road, in West Des Moines. The event’s Scramble featuring amputees, sponsors, and friends will be played Fri., July 8.
American Prosthetics & Orthotics (APO), with nine locations throughout Iowa and one in Moline, Ill., is sponsoring the event for the 27th consecutive year.
The Scramble begins at noon on July 8 and is a four-person, best-shot competition, via shotgun start. Scores will be compiled on a scratch basis.
With golf commencing both days at 8 a.m., amputee golfers and those with limb loss will compete in one of several flights on July 9. On July 10, golfers will be paired according to their previous day’s score. Trophies will be awarded for first through third place in each division. The tournament winner will be the person with the lowest two-day score in any division. A reception will follow play on July 9.

“Our tournament is known for producing terrific golf and camaraderie,” said Cory Watson, IAGA president. “Though a person may live with limb loss or limb difference, the event showcases how they can achieve their goals and enjoy quality of life.”
In addition to golf, recipients of the IAGA’s annual scholarships will be revealed at the July 9 reception. “We’re committed to offering those within our community the necessary resources to pursue their passions.” Watson said. “Through the assistance of our many benefactors and donors, we will be able to support well-deserving students at the 2022 tournament.”
