Eagles Baseball claws Wolverines

The West-Bend Mallard Wolverines came to Eagle Grove to meet the Eagles at Greenwood Park for a late evening regular season matchup last Tuesday. It was a game that probably made them want to crawl back into their hole.

The 1st and 2nd innings were scoreless as both teams did a good job on defense. But then in the 3rd the Eagles went on the offensive, driving to a score of 4 to nothing.

In the 5th the Wolverines got their claws out too, and put 5 on the board. But the Eagles outdid them, putting up another 7.

In the 5th the Wolverines managed another 2 while also keeping the Eagles at bay, but then their offense ran out of gas. In the 6th the Eagles motored ahead, chalking up 2 more, bringing the game to a 13 to 7 lead for the Eagles. And the 7th came and went without changing that. The Eagles won by 6.

Blake Morgan was the obvious MVP of the game. As a batter Morgan got 1 hit, 1 run, 3 RBI’s, and hit a home run! As a pitcher, Morgan pitched only 3 innings, but in them struck out 5. Andrew Denklau also had a good game at bat, getting 3 hits, a run, and an RBI.
