The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus(C&M) is coming to Eagle Grove, Thursday, July 28th. The circus will be setting up at the Wright County Fairgrounds, with a tent raising at 9:30 AM. The public is invited to come watch the Big Top go up, and take an early tour. The Midway will open at 4:00 PM, with pony rides, the Moon Bounce, the giant slide, face painting, a concession stand, and the box office will be open for last minute ticket sales. Shows will start at 5:00 PM & 7:30 PM.
This 37 year old circus is an authentic, single ring Big Top circus that has been featured on several TV programs, including the A&E special, Under the Big Top, as well as Nickelodeon’s Nick News: On the Road with Circus Kids, and recently OETA’s Big Top Town.
New in 2002 is the exciting Big Cats show by Trey Key. Also performing will be Aerialists Simone and Kelly, the 10th generation Loyal Bareback Horse Riders, the Perez Daredevil Duo on the tightrope, and the wheel of destiny. There will be clowns, and Brandon Ayala on the Rola Bola as well.
The performance is sponsored by Rotary Senior Living as a fundraiser, which Rotary helps will finance the purchase of $20,000 worth of much needed elder care equipment. Including 2 electronic shower chairs and a Stand Aid. Rotary Administrator Diane Casperson noted that the equipment needed would actually be significantly more expensive to repair, than to purchase new.
And besides, Casperson said, “the circus hasn’t been here since 2011, so it’s something that is different from what has been in the area for a while.” A way to bring fun into the lives of old and young. Casperson also pointed out that the residents of Rotary are “very much looking forward to the show” as well, and noted that they also need tickets. Anyone interested in purchasing tickets for Rotary residents, whether one or several, can contact Rotary to purchase.
Rotary receives 50% of advance adult ticket sales, and 25% of advance children’s ticket sales. Through Wednesday, July 27th, adult tickets are only $12, and kids and senior citizen tickets are just $7. On the day of the circus, however, prices go up.
