Eagle Grove Softball announces Team Awards, Letter Winners, All Conference Players & Records

The 2022 Eagles Softball Team had a great year, finishing in 4th place in the conference with a 10-6 record, and an overall record of 13-15. Their season came to an end in the quarterfinals, after beating MNW 13-12 in the 1st round of the regionals, when they went on to lose to Osage 8-5.

 

Several of the lady Eagles took home letters and team awards for their efforts.

Freshmen letter winners were Myah Edwards, Addy Jeske, and Tarissa Middleton, with Jeske and Middleton lettering twice. Sophomore letter winners were Olivia Conaway, Maddison Kaiser, Nadia Kaiser, Brooklyn Osborn, Callie Steil, and Chloe Steil, who all lettered twice. Junior letter winners were Madison Axtell, Suzi Kaiser, and Braxton Steil, with Axtell lettering twice and Steil lettering four times! The lone senior letter winner was Sabrina Flumerfelt, who also lettered 4 times!

In team awards, there were 5 varsity winners, and 4 JV/JJV winners. The varsity Silver Slugger award went to Sabrina Flumerfelt and the JV/JJV Silver Slugger went to Myah Edwards. Braxton Steil and Brooklyn Osborn both won the Gold Glove award in varsity, and Noel Kovacs won the Gold Glove in JV/JJV. Maddison Kaiser was the Most Improved varsity player, and Anna Cook was the most improved JV/JJV player. And Noel Kovacs was the JV/JJV Heart and Grit award winner, while Sarbrina Flumerfelt and Braxton Steil both won for Heart and Grit in varsity.

Senior Sabrina Flumerfelt, and underclassmen Braxton Steil, Nadia Kaiser, Addy Jeske, and Tarissa Middleton all earned career records. Flumerfelt in home runs with five, which puts her tied for 3rd. Steil in walks with 39, and tied for 12th, and hits from pitches with 19, placing 2nd. Kaiser tied for 4th in hits from pitches with 12. Jeske took 7th in batting with an average of .379. And Middleton took 4th in batting with an average of .423.

The fearsome fivesome of Flumerfelt, Steil, Kaiser, Jeske, and Middleton all earned season records as well! Flumerfelt tied for 1st in home runs with 4, tied for 9th in runs scored with 34, tied for 10th in hits from pitches with 5, tied for 12th in walks with 18, and tied for 16th in RBIs with 25! Middleton tied for 3rd in triples with 4, tied for 9th in runs scored with 34, tied for 12th in walks with 18, and placed 18th in batting with an average of .423! Steil took 5th in hits from pitches with 9, while Kaiser came close behind in the same category, tying for 10th with 5. And Jeske tied for 7th in walks with 20, and tied for 18th in runs scored with 30.

Five lady Eagles made the All Conference Teams this year. Addy Jeske and Tarissa Middleton each made the 1st Team. Sabrina Flumerfelt and Nadia Kaiser made the 2nd Team. And Brooklyn Osborne made the Honorable Mention Team.
