Supervisors Approve Trails Committee Changes, Secondary Road Projects

The Wright County Board of Supervisors met on Monday with all three members present.

The minutes included information about a special meeting held July 20 during which the Belmond Area Arts Council application for a Liquor License for a special event was approved pending dram shop insurance.

In the first order of business for Monday’s meeting the board reviewed and approved changes to the Wright County Trails Committee. Sara Middleton and Eric Rector stepped down, with Lisa Russell and Sam Hanson approved as replacements.

The group received and approved the quarterly revenue reports from the Wright County Auditor and the Wright County Recorder.

At the recommendation of the State of Iowa Auditor, a 28E agreement was approved for services between Wright County Charitable Foundation and Wright County.

Resolution 2022-32 creating the Local Government Opioid Abatement fund was approved with all ayes.

Adam Clemons, Wright County Engineer presented Resolution 2022-33 for Participation in an IIJA Safe Streets For All (SS4A) statewide Grant Application. A fund of $1 billion is available and the Grant would provide all 99 Iowa counties with a safety plan. The resolution passed unanimously.

Clemons also requested, and received, approval of a federal aid agreement for Project No: BRS-C099(101)–60-99 which will complete $400,000 in bridge work to a bridge near Galt.

The weekly Secondary Roads Update concluded Clemons’ presentation.

At 9:30 a.m. there was a call for a closed session following Iowa Code 21.5(c)to discuss strategy with counsel in matters that are presently in litigation or where litigation is imminent concerning a Pogge work order request. In closed session, the board approved Motion A and Motion B before coming out of closed session.

In the last order of business at 10:15 a.m. the Supervisors held a call with Franklin County to discuss an invoice for the amount of $67,800.00 for Joint Drainage District (JDD) 118-4 due to a difference in the scope of work. A motion was made to approve the invoice from Maier Trenching, which was seconded by Franklin County. The motion carried.

After recaps of new business, old business, and meetings attended by the Supervisors, the meeting adjourned.
