Melbourne (Mel) Sampson Mel became a member of The Eagle Grove Rotary Club In 1974 after returning to live and work in Eagle Grove in 1973. Mers education with a major in Accounting and Management and a minor in Education allowed him to serve diligently in the Rotary Club capacity. He was asked to serve on the Rotary Home Board in 1976 until 2021. In total he served as a Board member for forty-six years. During those forty-six years he served in the capacity as the board president holding that title for twenty-eight years. He served and assisted several Administers of Rotary Senior Living, which at that time was named Rotary Ann Homes. During his tenure he assisted Maury Strurtz and Jerry Dawley in the following areas: The construction of the Nursing Home, laundry building, Group Home and the Margaret Rankin Chapel located in the South Home. He was Involved in purchasing the M&M Research farm which consisted of ten acres of land. Today this land houses twelve apartment units known as “Stockdale Townhomes”. He was also involved in the construction of Park Avenue apartments, two duplexes titled Oak’s apartments and the purchase of two duplexes on South Washington Ave. He was Involved in the construction of the Wellness Center and in the last several years the construction of a Memory Unit located in the South Building of Rotary Senior Living.
Mel was very diligent about working with seven different administrators that have served Rotary Senior Living. During his tenure he was honored by the Eagle Grove community with the Albaugh Award in 2008-2009. The Rotary Foundation recognized him in 2008-2009 with the Paul Harris Fellow.
Delmer (Del) Kramersmeier Del joined The Rotary Club of Eagle Grove in 1965. He remained an active member until 1990 at which time he moved to Prescott, AZ. In 1999 Del moved to Eagle Grove and rejoined the Club until the present time. Del has been a member of the Rotary Club of Eagle Grove for forty-eight years. During those forty-eight years he served on Rotary Senior Living Board of Directors for a total of thirty-six years. Part of those years he served as the secretary of the Board. He also served as president of the club from 2002-2003. Del was awarded Paul Harris Fellow in the following years: 1988-89, 2008-2009, 2013-2014 and 2017-2018.
Del also served the Eagle Grove community for many years as a pharmacist owning and operating Kramersmeier Drug.
