With the football season fast approaching, Head Coach Logan Willard and his coaching team spent the first five days of the month in Camp Week, with kids in grades 2 to 12 participating.
“We were excited to get our pre-season camp going because it creates a lot of buzz and excitement for the upcoming season,” said Coach Willard. “It is also a good time to see where our numbers will be for the season. Fortunately our numbers are increasing every year and for the first time since I’ve taken over the program we will have a JV season.”
Activities included a lot of practice, and drilling, of course. But there was also a watermelon feed, Kona Ice, and a pool party with pizza from Pizza Ranch.
Willard seemed confident about the year ahead. “We are focused on raising the bar higher and achieving more than last season. We have a good senior class that will make that happen for us.”
Willard was also pleased with the way the senior classmen helped out, passing their knowledge on to the younger kids. “I’m also very encouraged with our older players willing to help coach the younger players within their position,” Willard said. “These seniors are going to leave the program better than they found it.”
Willard also complimented the youngsters for listening and paying attention to details as the week progressed. “We had clear intent to get better, and our guys did it with energy. Everyday they brought great attitude and effort.”
Willard also thanked the community for supporting their fundraising efforts like never before. “We had a record year,” Willard enthused, promising, “the funds will go towards gear for each player, weekly team meals and more.”
