Prairie Energy Cooperative, Corn Belt Power Cooperative, Basin Electric Power Cooperative, and COBANK, ACB all contribute to the Wright County Trails project
Clarion, Iowa – The Wright County Trails Committee is happy to announce that they have received a combined donation of $4,000 from Prairie Energy Cooperative, Corn Belt Power Cooperative, Basin Electric Power Cooperative, and COBANK, ACB. The businesses are proud to support a project that will promote community betterment and overall health of the people.
This generous donation is yet another step forward in this million-dollar project that, when completed, will establish a connector trail from Clarion to the R-45 blacktop that connects to Lake Cornelia. Currently, people must use State Highway 3, heading east of Clarion to make the connection. The Wright County Trail Committee is working to make that a safer route, raising money to provide a hard surface area that is off the traveled portion of the roadway that also provides scenic views for trail users.
“Our goal is to have walking, biking, hiking trails connect every community, and within each community, in the county,” said Wright County Trail Committee member Darrel Steven Carlyle.
The Wright County Trails Committee, chaired by Raejean Chapman, is made up of individuals from varying communities in Wright County. Members, who have all been appointed by the Wright County Board of Supervisors, include: Raejean Chapman, Darrel Steven Carlyle, Sarah Zwiefel, Sam Hanson, Lisa Russell, and advisor Lisa Hein, senior director of conservation programs at Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation.
The committee welcomes volunteers to join them in their efforts. For more information on how you can be a part of the Wright County Trails success story, or to make a donation, please contact any above-mentioned committee member.
