The Eagle Grove Eagles Volleyball team traveled to Britt to meet the West Hancock Eagles in a battle of the top birds of prey last week, where Eagle Grove powered to a 3 to 2 win over West Hancock.
Eagle Grove took the first set, scoring 25 to West Hancock's 19. Eagle Grove then topped West Hancock with a score of 25 to 23 in the second set. In the third set, West Hancock dominated Eagle Grove with a decisive 25 to 12 win. Then in the fourth set, West Hancock won again with a score of 26 to 24.
With both teams having won half the sets played to that point it all came down to the dramatic fifth and final set. Both teams battled hard, scoring closely at 15 to 13, with the win in the set, and the match going to Eagle Grove.
The Eagles had 25 kills and 19 assists overall, with sophomore Tarissa Middleton leading in kills, at 6.5%, and junior Maddison Kaiser leading in assists with 9.
