The Humane Society of Wright county is hosting its annual Lap the Lake dog walk on Saturday, October 1st at 10 a.m. starting at the open picnic shelter at Lake Cornelia. Water and food for the dogs, as well as the walkers, will be provided at the end of the walk. Awards (slowest dog, best dog trick, oldest dog, biggest dog, and more) will be handed out at the conclusion. Adoptable dogs will be there for future owners to meet and greet.
Tee shirts commemorating the dog walk and the Humane Society's 19th year in Wright County will be available if you sign up prior to September 19. The participation fee is $20 per person. This fundraiser will assist the Humane Society with the purchase of dog and cat food as well as paying for the medical care of adoptable animals. Don't forget your dog's "duty bag". Also, humans should wear a face mask and practice social distancing.
If you have any questions or would like to sign up, call Marcia Burt at 515-571-3129. In case of inclement weather, this event will be postponed to the following afternoon, October 2nd at 1 p.m.
The Humane Society of Wright County is a non-profit organization with a mission to promote educational programs concerning the humane treatment of animals and arrange shelter for stray, unwanted or abused animals. The group works as a liaison between pet owners looking to adopt a new pet and those who need to find a new home for a pet. The HSWC works with authorities to help prevent the destruction of unclaimed animals, and encourages owners to spay and neuter their pets.
