At West Hancock (9/12)

 

We defeated West Hancock 4 games to 1 in our first match of the year. The scores were: 21-15, 16-21, 21-9, 22-20, and 15-11. Our leading servers were Mya Morgan: 15 for 17 with 7 aces; Nicole Menke: 12 of 13 with 3 aces; Rynn Ettinger: 8 of 9 with 2 aces. As a team we served 71% with 22 aces. Team members are Naomi Agtun, Holly Anderson, Keylyee Collins, Rynn Ettinger, Jaz Gonzalez-Willard, Jennifer Hernandez, Denise Mendez, Nicole Menke, Mya Morgan, Brylee Mrla, Annye Pineda, Alva Redondo, and Kat Thul is the manager.

 

Belmond-Klemme (9/15)

 

In our first home match we defeated B-K 4 games to 1. The scores were: 21-12, 21-10, 21-19, 20-22, and 21-15. Leading servers were Jaz Gonzalez-Willard: 14 of 16 with 2 aces; Brylee Mrla: 13 of 15 with 4 aces; Alva Redondo: 10 of 13 with 4 aces. As a team we served 77% with 24 aces.

 

St. Edmond (9/20)

 

We played a lot of close games and came away with the victory, 4 games to 2. The scores were: 20-22, 21-11, 17-21, 21-14, and 21-14. Leading servers were Mya Morgan: 30 for 30 with 17 aces; Alva Redondo: 16 of 19 with 6 aces; Naomi Agtun: 12 of 14 with 4 aces. As a team we served 79% with 36 aces.

 

West Hancock (9/22)

 

We defeated West Hancock for the second time this season, 5 games to 1. This improves our overall record to 4-0 after the first two weeks of matches. Every girl has been a big part of our team's success. The scores were: 21-5, 21-11, 21-10, 21-13, 21-14, and 10-21. Leading servers were Alva Redondo: 23 of 23 with 10 aces; Mya Morgan: 20 of 20 with 12 aces; Holly Anderson: 9 of 11 with 8 aces; Nicole Menke: 17 of 17 with 5 aces. As a team we served 89% with 41 aces.

 

At Clarion-Goldfield-Dows (9/26)

 

We lost our first match of the season to a good Cowgirl team by a 5-1 score. The scores were: 9-21, 12-21, 21-19, 13-21, 15-21, and 19-21. Leading servers were Jaz Gonzalez-Willard: 17 of 19 with 7 aces; Mya Morgan: 9 of 9 with 4 aces; Brylee Mrla: 6 of 6 with 2 aces. As a team we served 87% with 30 aces.We played well in short spurts but we weren’t able to sustain any momentum. C-G-D controlled the tempo of the match with very good defense and an aggressive offense. This was a good match for us to see where we need to improve as a team.

 

Bishop Garrigan (9/27)

 

Overall Garrigan won 3 of the 5 games. The scores were: 21-7, 20-22, 21-10, 10-21, and 9-15. Leading servers were Nicole Menke: 17 of 17 with 4 aces; Holly Anderson: 6 of 6 with 4 aces; Keylyee Collins: 6 of 6 with 1 ace. As a team we served 76% with 17 aces. We did not serve as well as we have been serving so we never got into a consistent rhythm offensively.

 

Garner-Hayfield-Ventura (9/29)

 

We played our last home match of the season, and our third match of the week against GHV and won the match 4 games to 2. Leading servers were Mya Morgan: 20 of 23 with 12 aces; Alva Redondo: 16 of 17 with 11 aces; Rynn Ettinger: 13 of 16 with 5 aces. As a team we served 76% with 43 aces. Our setting duo of Jaz Gonzalez-Willard and Mya Morgan are doing an excellent job of setting our hitters and Holly Anderson and Brylee Mrla have been doing an outstanding job of swinging hard and attacking the opponents with hard hits from their outside hitter positions.
