Supervisors Certify Debt on Urban Renewal Areas

The Wright County Board of Supervisors convened their weekly meeting Monday at 9:00 a.m. with all three members present.

Adam Clemons, Wright County Engineer, presented a new hire for a Patrol Operator in the Belmond Shed for approval. The hire was approved unanimously as presented pending pre-employment screening.
Clemons then gave his Secondary Roads update of last week’s blading, mowing, concrete patching, and other regular activities, with 13 work orders completed. The department is also trying out Caterpillar blading equipment this week in advance of a potential equipment purchase.

The board reviewed and took action on two resolutions. Resolution 2022-37, which directed filing of certification of debt per Iowa Code 403.19 on Agribusiness Urban Renewal Area, was unanimously approved, as was Resolution 2022-38 directing the filing of certification of debt per Iowa Code 403.19 on ReNewTrient Urban Renewal Area. Both resolutions are on the agenda due to Iowa Code requiring debt be certified annually in order for a government entity to utilize Tax Increment Financing (TIF) money.

Next, the group approved funding the Iowa State Association of Counties Soil Compaction Project of $600.00, to determine field wetness and determine procedures to assist in mitigation of soil compaction caused by utility construction, which all ISAC member counties have been asked to pay, with all ayes.

The board voted to receive the monthly revenue report from the Wright County Sheriff in the amount of $2903.97 before adjourning  at 9:20 a.m.
