Walker, Rolo, Larue take home winnings too
Locals Dave Walker, Todd Mulford, Mike Rolo, Ryan Gardalen, and Keith Larue all competed at the 2023 IOMA State Pool Tournament. Walker and Mulford both competed in Senior 8 ball and 9 ball. Rolo, Gardalen, and Larue all competed in Open 8 Ball and Open 9 Ball. Gardalen and Larue also competed in the Open Scotch Doubles.
Todd Mulford was the big winner, taking third place in the Seniors 8 Ball final and 9th-12th in Seniors 9 Ball, winning a total of $480.
"I didn’t do worth a damn in Nineball, only won one match," Dave Walker – who kept the Eagle posted about the pool league standings through the season – posted to Facebook after the tourney wrapped up. "Did a little better in Eightball 7th-8th. Maybe next year." Of course, it wasn't all that bad – placing 7th-8th in Eightball won Walker a $200 purse.
Rolo snared a $70 purse with a 65th-95th placement in Open 9 Ball. Larue also snagged a $70 purse in the same contest with a matching 65th-95th placement.
Walker said that a great time was had by all, win or lose. And he hopes to see even more participants in the pool leagues next year.
