Eagle Grove High School junior Drake Canavan has been named to the KQ Radio All Area First Team in boys basketball as a Forward. KQ Radio Sports Director Quinn Douglas wrote that Canavan "emerged as a star in the Top of Iowa West" for the Eagles this season. Douglas also highlighted that Canavan's junior season culminated "in a 30-point performance against East Sac County, including 8 three pointers."
Canavan's record for the season was: 16.1 PPG, 7.9 RPG, 2.2 APG, 1.8 SPG, 44.9% FG, 36.9% 3PT, 70.3% FT
In girls basketball, junior Nadia Kaiser was named to the KQ Radio All Area Second-Team as a forward. Douglas called Kaiser "the Eagles go-to scorer" and wrote that she had "proved her improvement" in her junior season.
Sophomore Jaxon Morris was named to the KQ Radio All Area Second-Team in boys basketball as a Guard. Both Jaxon and his brother Jordan Morris had great seasons, which helps explain Douglas' commentary that Jaxon "gets the nod in a tough decision over his brother, Jordan." Douglas noted that Jaxon averaged more than 14 in PPG and praised him for pairing "a high level scoring ability with quick hands on the defensive end."
Jaxon's record for the season was: 14.1 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 2.8 APG, 2.4 SPG, 39.7% FG, 33.6% 3PT, 70.3% FT
And, unsurprisingly after nearly edging his brother out for the Second-Team, senior Jordan Morris was Douglas' choice from Eagle Grove for an Honorable Mention in boys basketball.
