The Eagle Boys Track team made the trek to nearby Humboldt to compete in the Nielsen Family HS Boys' Indoor meet at Humboldt High School on the 17th of March for an early season, fourteen school matchup. Other competing teams were (in alphabetical order) Algona, Belmond-Klemme, Bishop Garrigan, Forest City, Gilbert, Humboldt, Manson-NW Webster, OABCIG, Pocahontas Area, Ridge View, Southeast Valley, South Hamilton, and West Hancock. Eight races were run, two dashes, two runs, and four relays, plus the High Jump, and the Shot Put.
In the 200 Meter Dash, Algona's Jayden Erpeling, a junior, took first place with a time of 25.18. With a time of 27.07 senior John Pamperin led Eagle Grove's runners in, taking 11th place. Senior Korey Anderson was 20th to cross the finish line with a time of 28.05. And Freshman Hayden Schafer finished in 32nd place with a time of 30.86.
In the 400 Meter Dash, Pocahontas Area sophomore Josiah DeYoung won 1st place with a time of 54.27. Freshman Landon Mria took 14th, for the Eagles with a time of 1:02.14. While Reece Demuth, also a Frosh, finished in 24th in 1:08.82
In the 800 Meter Run senior William Wadsley of Gilbert took 1st in 2:12.11. Zabdi Castro, a sophomore, took 11th with a time of 2:29.04. Freshman Zachary Marvets finished in 30th, with a time of 3:30.14.
Gilbert took first again in the 1600 Meter Run, thanks to junior Zain Mueller's 4:56.67 run. No Eagles competed in the 1600.
In the High Jump, Forest City's Dakota Carlson, a junior, took 1st with a leap of 6-00.00 even. And Eagle Grove freshman Syrus Ward tied for 2nd with a 5-08.00 jump, which was matched by Algona's Caleb Omdahl, a senior.
Southeast Valley senior Ethan Ackerson took first in the Shot-Put with a hurl of 51-07. Taking point for a platoon of Eagles, senior Zach Pamperin took 26th with a toss of 31-08. Freshman James Harle heaved the shot 28-04 for 33rd. Sophomore Will Batterton notched 37th with a toss of 25-05. Junior Dominick Melendrez tossed 24-03, locking in a tie for 38th. Right behind, in 40th (there was no 39th due to the tie for 38th) was Frosh Christian Martinez with a throw of 23-11. Freshman Kayson Manson came in 43rd with a throw of 21-06. Freshman Jayden Kreitlow finished 45th with a toss of 20-05. Eduardo Sosa, a sophomore, finished 46th, throwing 18-01. And sophomore Layne Feske threw 12-06 for 47th.
Competing in the 1600 Medley Relay, Eagle Grove took 6th with a time of 4:11.60. Pocahontas Area nabbed the top spot with a time of 3:53.66.
