The Wright County Fair was honored at the Iowa Tourism Conference at Prairie Meadows in Altoona recently, and awarded the "Outstanding Social Media Execution" award, for rural communities.. The award, given by the Iowa Tourism Office, recognized the team at the Wright County Fair for their excellence.
25 awards were given in 13 categories, and each category was divided into metropolitan and rural communities.
Regardless of how far or near fair week is, the Wright County Fair's Facebook page is always active. Posts provide information to keep those both near and far informed. The fair team uses the page to highlight 4H accomplishments, share contest and parade photos, and inform about such things as weigh-in dates and registration deadlines. They use the page to build excitement and awareness around fair events for months in advance of each fair.
And, as the fair draws near, and during fair week, the page is a central repository of information, from schedules, to weather reports, and more.
This year's fair theme will be "Barn Light, Country Nights" and the fair will run from July 12th through the 16th.
