Community Health Center of Eagle Grove will welcome patients starting on Monday, July 3rd. Community Health Center of Fort Dodge announced in March 2023 the purchase of the former Eagle Grove Family Dentistry office located at 306 West Broadway Street in Eagle Grove. Since that time work behind the scenes to update the health center's scope of practice, apply for grant funding, hire staff and renovate the building took place.
“We put in new flooring and did a fresh coat of paint” said COO, Colleen Miller who has been spotted coming and going over the past months as renovations have progressed “We have also worked with Henry Shein, a dental supply company, on the installation of new equipment” she went on to say. The Eagle Grove location will operate under the umbrella of Community Health Center of Fort Dodge, Inc, doing business as Community Health Center of Eagle Grove. Community Health Center of Eagle Grove will focus on both oral health care and primary medical care. They will provide a full line of dental services including, but not limited to, dental exams, cleanings, sealants, dental x-rays, extractions and fillings. Patients of all ages will be served in multiple languages and bilingual Spanish speaking staff will be available.
The office is staffed by a full time dentist, two dental assistants, two nurse practitioners, a clinical support staff member, front desk registration member and an office manager. The hiring of a a full time hygienist is also planned. Their approach to integrate oral, primary care and behavioral health care will include referring patients from the Eagle Grove office for other health concerns or behavioral health needs to Community Health Center of Fort Dodge or other area providers as appropriate.
“Things really came together” said CEO, Renae Kruckenberg. “The need to keep access to dental services available to everyone in Wright county and the ability to add primary medical care is just a win, win for the community, being from the area it truly means so much to us personally that we can fill a need here with Community Health Center.” Kruckenberg and Miller both grew up in Eagle Grove. The health center accepts most private insurance, Medicare, Medicaid and offers a sliding fee scale to those who qualify. The sliding fee discount program gives those who are uninsured or underinsured another option for payment. At the Eagle Grove office, the front desk staff member will be able to assist patients in filling out forms with the proof of their household income to see if they qualify. If additional assistance is needed, patients will have access to the financial advocate at the Fort Dodge office to guide them in assessing what type of financial assistance for which they may qualify.
