Eagle Grove schools welcomes new teachers and staff

Several new faces will be seen teaching and working in Eagle Grove's schools team this year. Here's some basic information to help get to know them!

 

Linda Borkowski 

Preschool teacher at Eagle Grove Elementary

 

Why did you become a Teacher?

"I've always (since I was 6 years old) wanted to be a teacher. I just love to be able to help others learn something new."

What are you most excited about for the new school year?

"I am very excited to meet the preschool students & parents. I am so happy to be able to work with you. Eagle Grove is going to be an amazing place to work!!!"

 


 

Daniel Hernandez 

Fourth Grade teacher at  Eagle Grove Elementary

 

Why did you become a teacher?

"To follow my passion in education, spend everyday creating meaningful experiences and lifelong memories with my students."

What are you most excited about for the new school year?

"The Winter Elementary Concert!"

 


 

Kamry Dawson 

Second Grade teacher at Eagle Grove Elementary

 

Why did you become a teacher?

"I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. I have had so many favorite teachers through the years that have been very impactful, and I want to be that teacher for each of my students. My heart has a special place for children and I am ready to help them grow and shape them into the person they want to be!"

What are you most excited about for the new school year?

"I am most excited to meet so many new faces and build relationships with my students and coworkers. I'm excited to teach outside of my hometown and grow in a new community!"

 


 

Lexy Traster 

Third Grade teacher, at Eagle Grove Elementary

 

Why did you become a teacher?

"I want to have a positive, inspiring impact on children's lives. I grew up in a large family and always enjoyed helping my siblings with homework, projects, and much more. Being able to pass my knowledge, whether it be educational or emotional, onto them inspired me to want to do that for other children."

What are you most excited about for the new school year?

"I am most excited about learning alongside my students and creating a community. As a first-year teacher, I have a lot of learning to do, and I am excited to have a great group of kids to take the journey with me!"

 


 

Kelly Miller

Why did you become a Career to Work Coordinator?

"To help students strive to do the best they can potentially be."

What are you most excited about for the new school year? 

"Meeting all the students and staff."

 


 

Megan Smoldt 

First Grade teacher at Eagle Grove Elementary

 

Why did you become a teacher?

"I became a teacher because I have always had a passion for learning. I loved going to school growing up. While at school, I loved helping my peers. I have always enjoyed being around kids as well, they can always brighten my day!!"

What are you most excited about for the new school year?

"To meet my students and help make a difference in their lives! I can't wait to watch each one of them grow to become successful."

 


 

Julie Kramersmeier 

Careers/STEAM, at Robert Blue Middle School

 

Why did you become a teacher?

"I made the decision to become a teacher after working several years at a tech company in Des Moines. I gained a passion for wanting to help prepare students for the working world after high school. I was also inspired to pursue a career in education by the great teachers I had here in Eagle Grove."

What are you most excited about for the new school year?

"This year is the beginning of my 20th year in education and I am very excited to begin this milestone here in my hometown, Eagle Grove. I am excited to join the team at RBMS and get to know all the students. Also I am looking forward to provide a fun, engaging and creative classroom experience for the students."

 


 

Anthony Wubben, LMSW 

Student Success Specialist/HS Counselor & High School Student Council Sponsor, at Eagle Grove High School

 

Why did you become a Student Success Specialist?

"I entered into my career path with the goal of being able to help as many people, as I possibly can. Far too often, people go without the care or resources that they need. I have dedicated not only my career, but my entire lifestyle should be able to help support others, particularly those who are most vulnerable."

What are you most excited about for the new school year?

"I have several reasons for why I am most excited for the school year. My top two are: create a fun and fulfilling lifelong academic atmosphere; and beginning to create new traditions, while also keeping old ones alive."

 


 

Jayme Todd 

Fourth Grade teacher at Eagle Grove Elementary

 

Why did you become a teacher?

"I became a teacher because I have always had a passion of helping kids learn and have had always had a passion for learning myself."

What are you most excited about for the new school year?

"I am most excited to create a fun learning environment and go on all the fun field trips."

Why did you become a teacher?

"To make a difference in students' lives and to help them be efficient in mathematics."

What are you most excited about for the new school year? 

"Meet all new students and to begin my first year of teaching."
