Meet the teams!

Fall teams fill the streets

The Eagle Grove Sports Boosters hosted a fun meet the teams get together on Friday night, shutting down the 200 block of W. Broadway, which brought the townsfolk out in droves to meet the high school student athletes of the fall season sports and cheer them on. The sports boosters were serving burgers and chips with a drink for a $5 donation, and selling $25 Yard Line fundraising tickets, which will double each winner's money (tickets are still available for sale, contact the Sports Boosters through Facebook or any member).

In addition to the teams introducing themselves, the crowd was treated to a performance by the Golden Stars dance team. Kids could tour firetrucks, police cruisers, and an ambulance. The EMS service was giving away free ice cream sundaes. Studio Sol was offering bracelet classes to support the Sports Boosters. And there was a dunk tank!

Girls Cross Country coach Mike Herrington expressed how eager his team was to run, and how they'd already proved their mettle.

Cheerleading Coach Shelby Jacobsen announced that this year will be a historic one for the Cheer Squad, who attended Cheer Camp this year, and will compete in State Cheer for the first time in Eagle Grove history.

"I always tell the guys, 'you don't know how much your town and community support you," said Football head coach Logan Willard from the stage, before gesturing at the large crowd filling the street and adding, "well look out there – there's the support of our town!"

Boys Cross Country coach Ben Demuth echoed that sentiment. "Our community support is awesome," Demuth said. And when it comes to student athletes, Demuth noted, "people see them, they support them, and that's really awesome," adding "we're ready to go and we're thankful for this… Go Eagles!"
