Eagle boys take 4th in Gold Division at Lynx Invitational

The Eagle Grove Cross Country runners made the short trip to Webster City for the Lynx Invitationals on Monday, held at the Links Golf Course, to compete in the Gold Division 5K run.
 
In the second run of the day, Freshman Tony Vasquez led the Eagle boys with a time of 23:00.06. And junior Patrick Heaton was right behind him running a time of 24:04.68. Only two teams made the leaderboard in the second run, Algona in 1st with a total of 1:49:47.34 and an average of 21:57.47, and Roland-Story in 2nd with a total time of 2:10:02.51, averaging 26:00.51.
 
In the day's third run, the Lady Eagle runners didn't make the leaderboard, but nevertheless ran the full course. Frosh Janlis Nunez finished with a time of 32:17.35. Nicole Menke, also a frosh, came in two behind Nunez with a time of 32:35.50.  And in hot pursuit of Menke was junior Elizabeth Lopez with a time of 32:38.31.
 
In the second run, the St. Edmond girls took first with a time of 1:51:26.60 and an average of 22:17.32. Roland-Story came in 2nd with a time of  1:54:47.53 averaging 22:57.51. Algona was 3rd with a team time of 2:07:30.44, and a 25:30.09 average time. Hampton-Dumont-CAL came in 4th with a time of 2:09:21.58 and a 25:52.32 average. In 5th was S Hamilton at 2:16:18.30 averaging 27:15.66. And Southeast Valley took 6th with 2:26:11.70 averaging 29:14.34.
 
In the 4th run of the day, Senior Noah Thul led the boys to their 4th place finish with a time of 19:54.70, beating the Eagles' team average and placing 11th overall. Junior Zabdi Castro finished in 19th overall with a run of 20:35.41, also beating the Eagles' average. Sophomore Felix Reyes ran a time of 21:11.37 for 26th. Freshman Hunter Waldo-Martinez snagged 33rd with a time of 21:37.95, with junior Dylan Beck hot on his heels with a time of 21:40.12 for 34th. Seconds behind was soph Cooper Thacker, running 21:59.75 for 38th. And Felix Gonzalez finished 46th with a time of 23:26.53.
 
The Eagle boys finished 4th in their division in the day's 4th run, with a total time of 1:43:54.63, and an average time of 20:46.93. The Eagles just beat out South Hamilton by under half a minute. And Roland-Story edged the Eagles out by just under a minute. St. Edmonds finished 2nd with a time of 1:37:51.14, and an average of 19:34.23. And Algona took 1st place in 1:36:34.66 averaging 19:18.94.
 
The Eagles' next run was slated for Tuesday Sept. 5, at the Belmond Country Club for the Belmond-Klemme invitational, starting at 5 pm.
