Darci Anderson and the Eagle Grove Cheerleading squad brought their spirit to the forefront on a recent segment of WHO13 NBC news of Des Moines, showcasing their unwavering support for their wrestling team at the State Wrestling Tournament. As the arena echoed with cheers and chants, Darci stood out, embodying the essence of determination and enthusiasm.
From the stands to the arena floor, Darci, a senior this year, exuded passion and commitment, a testament to her years of dedication to the team. Her journey to this moment began at a young age, attending wrestling events since she was just six or seven years old.
The fact that Darci has Down Syndrome has never stopped her. In fact, it’s helped her bring happiness to others. “She really cares about people and she kind of has this sixth sense for when people need her. And she seems to make people happier,” Darci’s mom Angela Anderson told WHO13. “She can feel, like, people’s pains, and when they’re happy she feels that.” Which, of course, makes her a better cheerleader.
And Darci was not the only cheerleader with down syndrome urging on the wrestlers, Shelby Kurth, a sophomore cheerleader from Marion, was there as well, and also featured in the WHO13 segment.
The two of them are living beacons of inspiration. Proving that rising above challenges is worth cheering.
